For 30-plus years, Charlie Koiner and his daughter Lynn have grown over 20 types of produce in a one-acre plot behind the house that the Koiner family has owned since the 1930s. The only working farm in downtown Silver Spring, it’s an urban farm hidden in plain sight at 737 Easley Street, just blocks from the Silver Spring Library. Charlie passed away during the past year, but his daughter and a small non-profit organization now operate the farm. On Wednesday June 12 at 2:00, SPARKLE will visit the farm. Attendees will be able to ask questions, and even better, buy fresh produce grown right here. RSVP via the Village website calendar, by email to programs@silverspringvillage.org, or by phoning the Village at 301-503-7401.
