Silver Spring Village members will meet for dinner at Abyssinia, an Ethiopian restaurant at 8221 Georgia Avenue. at 5:30 pm on Saturday June 9. After dinner all interested will walk to the Silver Spring Library at 900 Wayne Avenue to join in The Big Read, an initiative of the National Endowment for Arts (NEA), a community reading program designed around a single book.


The book selected for the 2018 Big Read in Montgomery County is The Beautiful Things that Heaven Bears by MacArthur Foundation Fellow Dinaw Mengestu. This book tells the story of the immigrant experience in Montgomery County and the Washington metropolitan area, including Silver Spring. Mr. Mengestu will speak about the inspiration for this book.
