How are older people and aging portrayed in the media? You’re invited to learn about and discuss findings from recent research sponsored by AARP, the National Council on Aging, Grantmakers in Aging, and other national aging organizations and foundations.

The talk will be presented by Tony Sarmiento, President of Silver Spring Village. Tony is the former Executive Director of Senior Service America, Inc. In his career in workforce development and adult education, he has held senior positions at the national AFL-CIO and the D.C. Department of Labor. He serves as board chair, National Association of Nutrition and Aging Services Programs; board vice chair, American Youth Policy Forum; and board member, Poverty and Race Research Action Council. He also serves on the Community Council for WAMU-FM, the leading public radio station in greater Washington, DC; named fellow by the Gerontological Society of America; and elected to the National Academy of Social Insurance.
