Rev. Josiah Henson was enslaved in our own North Bethesda, escaped and helped other slaves escape, and was eventually Harriet Beecher Stowe's model for Uncle Tom in her famous novel Uncle Tom's Cabin. Montgomery Parks is developing the estate on Old Georgetown Road where he was enslaved as a county park and museum.

Silver Spring Village is proud to host a representative of Montgomery Parks, who will speak with us about Henson, plans for the park and museum, and a new book about Henson which the park system has published.

Wednesday December 5 at 1:00 at Holy Cross Senior Source, 8580 Second Ave. RSVP via the Village website calendar, by email to programs@silverspringvillage.org, or by phoning the Village at 301-503-7401.
