Thinking About
Trade, Tariffs & The Economy
  • Understand why imports, not exports, make an economy better off.
  • Find out why tariffs are like damming up our harbors.
  • Discover the amazing links between foreign purchases of American government bonds and U.S. trade deficits.

At a special SPARKLE event, noted economist Dr. Arthur Alexander is back

to address a new timely topic on tariffs and trade

Dr. Arthur Alexander is an adjunct professor at Georgetown University and at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, teaching on the Japanese economy. He was an original faculty member of the Rand Graduate School for Policy Analysis and a member of its advisory committee.

Dr. Alexander received a M.Sc. degree in economics from the London School of Economics, and a Ph.D. in economics from the Johns Hopkins University.
