Okinyi Ayungo, Executive Director of FitnessWise, will lead a presentation and demonstration program that covers how you can strengthen your body to better perform ordinary daily tasks.  These may include getting up from a chair or the floor, carrying weighty objects such as groceries or a small grandchild, going up and down stairs, and preventing yourself from falling.  Exercises will focus on what you can do at home using a chair, a band, and even soup cans (for lifting).  Audience members will be able to join in if they wish.

Okinyi is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.  He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA), a certified Functional Movement Screen (FMS) specialist, and a USA Track and Field Level 1 Coach. In his 19 years as a health professional, Okinyi has developed functional training programs and educated other fitness professionals in major health clubs in the region. In leading the Bethesda-based FitnessWise team, Okinyi specializes in using functional exercise modalities to help clients recover from injuries, move better, and improve their quality of life.
